ScribblingPad

ScribblingPad started as a brainchild band of Arun Pareek during his stay in Hyderabad in 2007. The story behind such a fucked up band name? Ask Arun and he replies “If I had a few more hours I would have definitely come up with a much better name”. Nevertheless ScribblingPad started as a concept project when Arun met like minded musicians in Hyderabad. Here are excerpts from a conversation between Arun and Chaitanya that led to the formation of thos progressive Rock band.

Chaitanya: So y progressive Rock. I am an instrumental guy with interest in blues and jazz.

Arun: Doesnt matter. The root of progressive and psychedelic music is extended jazzlines and blueslines with modern time signatures and lengths.

Chaitanya: Anyways, we have been talking over these things for quite some time. Progressive rock also demands contextual lyrics. What about that?

Arun: I have some stuff written on this genre. And i am sure once u have a look at it you would be impressed.

Following continued blah blah where they talked, discussed, once fought but finally settled for this genre. Arun is still a big fan of bands like Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Anathema and others. The choice of the genre was obvious.

Along with ScribblingPad Arun also decided to name their maiden album as Meaningless Realities. Three songs were written for the album in a record time of one week.

ScribblingPad is yet to come out with their album in 2009. The album is said to contain 9 tracks.
